Andainya Aku Pergi Dulu

‘‘Andainya aku pergi dulu sebelummu, janganlah kau bersedih hati. Andainya aku tiada lagi di sisimu, janganlah kau memencil diri.”
That's among the line from the song Andainya Aku Pergi Dulu, which was popularised by the Alleycats. Yesterday morning at 10.50am, one of the main member of the Alleycats, Loganathan Arumugam, or Loga as he was fondly called, has passed away from lung cancer. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
Although I'm wasn't born in the seventies and eighties when the songs by the Alleycats was a hit, I must say I've really enjoyed their songs throughout these years. I guess it's not easy to find a Malaysian who never heard of the Alleycats before, don't you think so?
After reading the news of this passing, I was shocked and saddened. The first though who set into me was the tune of the song Sekuntum Bunga Merah Sebuah Puisi. His death has certainly marked a great lost to the country's music industry. May his soul rest in peace with the blessings of God.
Jeff Ooi had made a great comment in his blog entry, which goes like this: Kerana Kau, Alleycats' music taught us Malaysians to be once blind of colours. It won't be No(k)ta(h) Terakhir for Malaysians who choose to stay together and be at peace with one another, Hingga Akhir Nanti.
Loga and the Alleycats has played a significant role in Malaysian pop history. They were the epitome of Malaysia's multicultural and multiracial harmony, where a band and their songs can be embraced regardless of their race or skin colour. A simple word to Loga: Thanks for the memories all these years. T'rima kaseyyy!

i am sorry to tell you this, but you have circled the wrong person. Uncle Loga is the one on the right.

yes, you got the wrong picture circled..that's david arumugam the brother..anyway, alleycats songs are famous during the 80's , not 60's-70's

"the dude": you're right. the alleycats has certainly came out with many songs that touched the heart of many people.

besides p.ramlee and sudirman, they're the few local artists who put aside any racial difference in the local entertainment industry. their songs have been enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their races and skin colour.

by the way, thanks for dropping by my blog. just out of my curiosity, where did you find out about my blog? anyway, hope you enjoyed reading my postings :)
